I recall when mom was four, her daddy died;
Grandmother and baby brother also survived.
In seasons, sometimes lonesome and bare,
Life became watching others pass by;
Standing in the schoolhouse window
Dreaming of the times when;
When there would be more than waiting.
Would sister Bessie soon come,
bring her car, stay for weeks?
